EXPERIENCING LITURGY AS CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER

Beginning in the fourth century Christian teachers increasingly emphasized the twin roles of sacred scripture and liturgy as the pri–mary sources of contemplative prayer. In the workshop we will study of ancient, medieval, and modern spiritual authors who encourage us to experience sacred liturgy as a spiritual ascent towards intimate union with Jesus Christ.
Fr. Luke Dysinger has been a monk of Valyermo since 1980. He is a priest and a physician who writes and teaches in the fields of mystical theology and biomedical ethics. He earned a Ph.D. at Oxford University and currently teaches at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, CA as well as online courses.
