DESCRIPTION:“Desde hace algunos decenios\, esta edad de la vida concierne a un auténtico ‘nuevo pueblo’ que son los ancianos. Nunca hemos sido tan numerosos en la historia humana. El riesgo de ser descartados es aún más frecuente: nunca tan numerosos como ahora\, nunca el riesgo como ahora de ser descartados. Los ancianos son vistos a menudo como “un peso”. (Papa Francisco). La vejez no es la finalidad sino el comienzo de la “edad de oro”. Quizás nuestros cuerpos no respondan como cuando éramos jóvenes pero nuestras mentes y corazón todavía palpitan y pueden aportar mucho a nuestra sociedad. La longevidad es un signo de oportunidad para transformar\, dejar un legado espiritual a la humanidad y compartir nuestra sabiduría con los jóvenes. Durante este retiro reflexionaremos sobre el significado de nuestras vidas a través de los años y el propósito que Dios tiene para nosotros como Ciudadanos de oro\, ya sea nos quede tres o veinte años más de vida. ¡Nunca es tarde para responder al llamado de Dios! \n  \nPresentador: CARLOS OBANDO\, Obl.OSB\, nació en Costa Rica y vive en Los Estados Unidos desde 1966. Está casado\, tiene tres hijos y tres nietos. En el año 2009 obtuvo una maestría de la Universidad de Loyola Marymount\, Los Ángeles\, en Teología Pastoral\, es instructor en la Escuela de la Renovación Carismática en la Diócesis de Orange. Ha sido Director Espiritual por más de 25 años. Trabaja con la comunidad hispana desde 1979 en los condados de Los Ángeles y Orange en la formación de líderes y dando retiros a jóvenes\, adultos y matrimonios. SUMMARY:The Practice of Discernment: Through Exercises and Process
DESCRIPTION:The goal of this retreat is to discuss the practice of discernment as taught by the Christian tradition.  Different methods of the discernment process will be discussed and exercises given to retreatants to learn to incorporate ways of discernment in daily life.  There will be discussion each evening to process the “consolation” and “desolation” voices and herein weave the 14 rules of discernment by Saint Ignatius alongside the Rule of St. Benedict. \n  \nPresenter: Liz Cooke is a Benedictine oblate and trained as a Spiritual Director in the Benedictine Tradition by the Sisters of Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado.  She also has been a nurse practitioner for 35 years\, holding certifications in adult medicine\, oncology\, and psychiatry.  She also has a PhD in Organizational Psychology. \n*If the event is listed as sold out\, please call us at 661-944-2178 for real-time availability and a waiting list.\n**The Start and End times for the retreat reflect the check-in and check-out times.
