You Can Support the Abbey
November 2022
Dear Friends and Oblates of Saint Andrew’s Abbey,
I am grateful to God for you and your faithful support over the years. Through your generous response to my appeal last year, we were able to purchase two generators. On behalf of the monks, I thank you with a heart of gratitude and appreciation for your charity.
Our current challenges are many, which is not unusual given the nature of life and a non-profit organization.
Senior Care: Currently, we have three senior monks who require extra care. We have a caregiver with them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Very recently we have moved from ordinary ‘companionship care’ to more ‘skilled care’, hiring CNA’s and LVN’s. We hope to be able to keep our brothers at the Abbey in their old age as long as we are able to provide for their care.
Kitchen: Very often our kitchen staff receives compliments from guests and monks for the quality of their work. We would like this to continue. Our current appliances: ovens, coffee urns, and freezers are in need of upgrading. Our appliances have served us well for many years; however, considering the frequency and volume of use, it is time to replace them as we are able.
Trees: The fire department has mandated that we clear away many of our trees and bushes from buildings. With the Bobcat fire vividly etched in our memory, we understand the precaution. Nevertheless, the green trees and bushes help to make the Abbey a beautiful and prayerful place. We need to install fire-friendly attractive landscaping to help maintain the beauty of the Abbey.
The Lord knows it is impossible for the Abbey to exist without your generosity. He has ordained it thus to keep the monks humble and to allow you to participate in the vital work of drawing people unto Himself.
If you are able to financially assist us in our need, please click on the donate button and designate your donation to Abbot’s Appeal 2022. May the good Lord bless you abundantly for your ‘yes’ in supporting His work at Saint Andrew’s Abbey. Be assured of our daily prayers for you and your family, especially during this holiday season. May God be glorified in all we do.
With sincere gratitude in Christ,
Abbot Damien Toilolo, OSB
