Discovering, Uncovering, and Using Your Spiritual Gifts
On Pentecost, the Church celebrates the fulfillment of Christ’s promise to his disciples to send the Holy Spirit. As reported in Acts 1:8, Jesus said “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” Thus, Christians have been given charisms or spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit to be channels of God’s love and redeeming presence in the world. “Whether extraordinary or ordinary, charisms are to be used in charity or service to build up the church.” Catechism of the Catholic Church, CCC 2003.
In this retreat, participants will learn what are the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit, and how they differ from spiritual gifts. Using a spiritual gifts inventory, retreatants will be guided in ways they can begin to discern and exercise their God given spiritual gifts, both in the church and in the world.
