A Benedictine Monastery
The principal sources of contemplative prayer in the early Church were the Scriptures and the sacred liturgy, where the Scriptures are transformed into poetry and song. In this workshop, we will seek to rediscover in the Benedictine liturgical tradition of music and prayer our capacity to delight in and reverence the mystery of the God of Love. Latin chants from from early monastic sources as well as modern Benedictine antiphons, will be shared, and participants will be encouraged to share the liturgy of the hours with the monastic community.
Presenter: FR. LUKE DYSINGER, OSB; D.Phil.; M.D., has been a monk of Saint Andrew’s Abbey since 1980.
