The Practice of Discernment: Through Exercises and Process

The goal of this retreat is to discuss the practice of discernment as taught by the Christian tradition.  Different methods of the discernment process will be discussed and exercises given to retreatants to learn to incorporate ways of discernment in daily life.  There will be discussion each evening to process the “consolation” and “desolation” voices and herein weave the 14 rules of discernment by Saint Ignatius alongside the Rule of St. Benedict.

 

Presenter: Liz Cooke is a Benedictine oblate and trained as a Spiritual Director in the Benedictine Tradition by the Sisters of Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado.  She also has been a nurse practitioner for 35 years, holding certifications in adult medicine, oncology, and psychiatry.  She also has a PhD in Organizational Psychology.
