The Sonlight candle was inspired by the stained-glass Holy Spirit window at the Abbey. The yellow rays of light signify the light of Christ, and the red and orange accents represent the fire of the Holy Spirit. The monks line up before this image every day as they enter the chapel for Mass.
Each Candle Supports a Refugee
Saint Andrew’s Abbey “Sonlight” candles are hand-made by Burmese and Congolese women starting a new life in the U.S. after living for years as refugees. Every candle they mix and pour represents their new life as artisans earning a living wage. When you purchase a Sonlight candle, you support these women and their families as well as the monks at the Abbey.
Every Sonlight candle is made from all-natural soy & coconut waxes, pure cotton, wood wicks, and premium fragrances made with essential oils. Dyes or enhancers are never added. They can burn for 70 hours. Candles can set a peaceful ambiance for prayer, improve mental health, and decrease stress. Get one today!
